Away from Covid-19, IYC presidential aspirant Daniel Dasimaka vows to reposition Niger Delta region

“If am elected I will look at the issues rounding the non relocation of the multinational oil companies to the Niger Delta as I said earlier security issues is a crucial factor that is why I will engage the youths in meaningful ventures and education is key in this regard.“


As the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) awaits to get a new executives, one of the presidential candidate Comrade Daniel Williams Dasimaka has reposed confident in the heart of many when he said he will bring back the lost glory in the region.

During an exclusive interview recently, he emphasise that Twenty one years after the establishment of the foremost Ijaw Youth organisation Kaiama declaration has not been realised. He said if he is elected he would ensure that the vision of the founding members is actualized especially the issue of resource control. He addedthat he will engage the government through constructive dialogue to the achieve that lofty goal.

He further noted that the issues of security which he described as external and internal would be a priority he ensure that the youths are given the proper education and skills for them to meaningfully engaged in order to ameliorate criminality in the Ijawland and the Niger Delta region.

Dasimaka who was a one time spokesman of the IYC reiterated that he will engage representatives of the people in the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly to ensure that the Petroleum industry Bill PIB is passed expeditiously, stressing that the oil communities must benefit from their God given wealth.

He further noted that due to the degradation of environment, “ I will ensure clean up of Ijawland ,the clean up has started in Ogoni land today and I will ensure that the entire Ijawland is cleaned up “.

The Rivers state born former ICY Spokesman express dismay over the non completion of the East- West road , adding that “Twenty billion Naira recently released by the Federal government to complete the road is meagre even with that we are yet to see action “.

“We are yet to see equipment of the contractors on the road , recently I travelled along the road and four big trucks fell down and caused serious gridlock on the road and because of the bad state of that road, unfortunately one of the trucks was carrying oil equipment.”

On the intervention agencies like Niger Development Commission (NDDC ) and the Niger Delta Minister he said he will ensure that the agencies actualize their core mandate by fulfilling the reasons for their establishment.

Dasimaka admonished the voting delegates to look at his pedigree and his antecedents as a former spokesperson and vote wisely for a candidate that will do the job and keep to the tenents and philosophy of the founding fathers of the Ijaw Youth Council to move the Ijaw nation forwards.
