The president Enlightened Rivers State Youth, Comr Tonye Tom-George has revealed why the former governor and Mins. For Transportation, His Excellency Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi remains an outstanding character in Nigeria's politics especially in Rivers State.


According  a live radio program known as Ethics and Values on Kapital 92.9FM, at Abuja  Federal Capital Territory on Friday 12th July 2019, Tonye told Nigerians some roles played by the South South leader of APC in building the nation.



In his own words "Amaechi is like Joseph in the Bible, favoured by God and envied by men.
Amaechi is someone who believes in building institution; as Governor of Rivers State he built Modern Standard Primary Schools, he built modern standard secondary schools."


Amaechi paid bursary to Rivers State Students,  gave scholarships, made sure that the youths gained employment.

 "Amaechi employed at least 13 thousand youths as teachers in Rivers State, employed medical Doctors and also gave them cars and befitting Doctors quarters and as well employed Lawyers."


"When it comes to employment in Rivers State, Amaechi did a lot in Rivers State, that is why we always celebrate this man. When it comes to infrastructural development, Amaechi built roads in Rivers State. You can't do without mentioning Amaechi in Rivers State. But to them, the Only offence Amaechi committed was supporting  president Buhari to fight against corruption. He did very well."


He further scored the former minister for transportation very high "Amaechi is one of the best ministers that Buhari had. Amaechi built railway from Kaduna to Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and other areas. Amaechi did very well as minister of transportation."

What seems to be unprecedented was captured in Rivers State as thousands of indigenes from all works of life staged a peaceful protests against governor Nyesome Ezenwo Wike at his residence beside government house in William Jumbo. According to the placards of the protesters, they accused the governor for threatening the life of an INEC staff in an audio tape, alleging that the governor was responsible for all the killings and most misfortunes in the state. When addressing the press, the 2015 deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asita O. Asita, said a lot of things led to the peaceful protest. He said some of them include an audio tape which governor was caught threatening an INEC staff and that of the governor's request to transfer some key security men that refuse to accept bribe. Meanwhile, when contacted governor Wike he said, he will not be distracted by such issues, stressing that he has a focus on achieving some developmental strides in the state...

A top stakeholder in the All Progressive Congress has said there is no factional chairman in the party ahead of the forth coming national convention.   Mr. Bashir Gegu told newsmen shortly after the caretaker chairman His excellency governor Bala Buni inaugurated thirty-six state chairmen and that of the Federal capital Territory at the party's National secretariat, at Abuja. He said those complaining of factional chairman in the party are not real members but mole stressing that the party has concluded elections for state executives in 2021.
