Guber aspirant raises alarm over butchered Whale in Bayelsa

Controversy over the recent butchered Whale that appeared in Bayelsa.
Here is what  Timipa Jekin, (gubernatorial aspirant) said.

BLUE ECONOMY AND THE STRANDED SEA MAMMAL AT BRASS WATERFRONT: THE SICKENING CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE POLITICAL CLASS IN BAYELSA STATE

My dear friends, supporters and compatriots,

1. About 3 days ago, a gigantic sea mammal, found itself stranded ashore at one of the fishing settlements on Brass waterfront in Brass LGA of Bayelsa State. The sea mammal is widely believed to be one of the rare species of Whales which are gradually going extinct.

2. In civilized societies, the helpless Whale would be helped back into its natural habitat by concerned citizens. Those of us who often watch the popular TV channel NAT GEO WILD might understand what I mean here.

3. But the inhabitants who live within and around the fishing settlement where the Whale mistakenly found itself; couldn't believe their luck: very much like Vultures and Hyenas, they descended on the unfortunate mammal with all manner of cutting implements to harvest pounds and pounds of flesh!

4. Pictures and videos of the dismemberment of a rare specie by Ijaw people from Bayelsa State, Nigeria are all over the internet. This is disturbing. Its already given us a bad image before the international community. The entire coastline of Brass and the surrounding environment is now bloodied with the blood of a dead and maybe, decomposing Whale. Soon enough, cholera and other waterborne diseases, might break out! Who brought this curse upon us?

5. Isn't it most shameful, sickening and despicable that, the Government of Bayelsa State has failed, refused and/or otherwise neglected to issue a statement regarding the unfortunate incident? Do we even have a Government in Bayelsa State?

6. Secondly, there's this governorship aspirant who's been disturbing our ear lobes about his intention to bring about a so-called BLUE ECONOMY for the people of the state. The last time I checked: He hasn't uttered a single word about the potential epidemic waiting to engulf Brass and other towns, villages and communities.

7. What a shame. This only goes to show that the rhetoric about BLUE ECONOMY is all a scam!  How can a governorship aspirant who promises to run a BLUE ECONOMY fail to rise to the occasion when it mattered the most? If, for instance, the Bayelsa ecosystem was destroyed (God forbid), by the Brass Waterfront incident, from whence would he implement his BLUE ECONOMY?

8. What is a BLUE ECONOMY? According to the World Bank, the Blue Economy is the "sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystem."

9. My dear friends, I do not wish to be misunderstood. I have nothing personal against the BLUE ECONOMY Man. His policy document of BLUE ECONOMY should perhaps, provide the closest answer or roadmap, to the stranded Whale saga. That's why I singled him out. He doesn't need to be Governor of Bayelsa State before speaking up about the incident. Same goes for all the governorship aspirants in the forthcoming November 16 governorship election. The stranded Whale saga presented good opportunity for them to show leadership. Alas, they failed you, the people.

MY POSITION ON THE STRANDED WHALE SAGA

10. Here is my position on the issue, to wit:
a. Bayelsa State Government should as a matter of urgency, cordon off the area and immediately commence the process of evacuation of the dead sea mammal;
b. Post mortem activities should be carried out by the appropriate Health Institution, to ascertain whether or not healthcare related challenges might arise from the incident;
c. Caution and enlighten the Chiefs, people and community leaders around the area to prevent future reoccurrence of such an incident;

SIGNED:
BARRISTER TIMIPA JENKINS OKPONIPERE
Bayelsa Governorship Aspirant 2019
July 30, 2019

She further accused  the Rivers State governor of doing everything possible to prejudice the minds of Nigerians by deliberate lies and perversion of the truth. Shocking facts about sleep

Every nuclear accident reported so far anywhere in the world has occurred on the night shift, when people are tired. Most highway accidents take place between midnight and 6:00 a.m. and are fatigue-related. Their rate is nearly triple that of accidents occurring at noon or 6:00 p.m. People who suffer from severe sleep apnea have more than twice as many car accidents as the general population. 50,000 car accidents a year occur because drivers fall asleep at the wheel. We sleep less now than we did a decade ago according to data from a Japanese study. In 1970 we slept an average of 7.5 to 8 hours a night. In 1990 we slept an average of 7 to 7.5 hours a night. Nobody knows why this is so, but it may be a result of a faster-paced life, in which we juggle many responsibilities. 50 percent of the elderly suffer from insomnia. The average person sleeps 220,000 hours in a lifetime. The average healthy sleeper moves 40 to 60 times each night. Nearly 40,000,000 North Americans snore occa...
