The Acting Executive Director Finance and Administration, EDFA, of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Chris Oyirinda Amadi, Saturday, bagged a Doctorate Degree in Trade and Development Finance of the Institute of International Trade and Development, University of Port Harcourt.

The Award which was conferred on him at the convocation arena of the prestigious University of Port Harcourt is an addition to his arsenal of academic awards which include a B.Sc in Finance and Banking, an M.Sc in Finance and Banking, an MBA in Entrepreneurship amongst others and marks a major milestone in his career trajectory.


The Executive Director who spoke to newsmen shortly after the event expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of his Doctorate Degree which he stated would greatly impact on his performance both as an administrator and financial expert.

"Considering my role as the Acting Executive Director in charge of Finance and Administration of the NDDC, the completion of a Doctorate Degree in Trade and Development Finance, means I have acquired more expertise, skills and knowledge necessary to attract and manage the finances and resources needed to drive development in the Niger Delta region", he said.

The former Bank Branch/Zonal Head, noted that the NDDC under the leadership of Prof. Nelson Braimbraifa, is in constant collaboration with Universities in the Niger Delta region adding that Universities are critical partners in the development of the people and the region and as such are given adequate considerations by the management of the Commission.

"Universities within the Niger Delta region are benefiting from the NDDC with particular reference to the University of Port Harcourt which has benefited in the areas of infrastructural development. We have built a couple of hostels in Uniport and we are currently rehabilitating roads within the institution to  make learning easier for our people. We are aware that education is the bedrock of development and as such we are doing all we can to support our people through scholarships, building of befitting hostel accommodations and lecture theatres."


Dr. Oyirinda, further encouraged members of the public to pick interest in taking up a degree in Trade and Development Finance, describing it as the rave of the moment.
