Stop Wailing Over My Election~ Sen. Uchendu blasts Wike

Stop Wailing Over My Election~ Sen. Uchendu blasts Wike

The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Andrew Uchendu, has cautioned Governor Nyesom Wike, to stop wailing over his victory in the December 10, 2016, Legislative Re-run Election.

Senator Uchendu, said this in reaction to a statement made by Governor Wike during a live television interview on March 9, 2018, wherein he alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, connived with the police to present certain vital documents that influenced the decision of the court.

He said: "Wike, I am worried that so many months after the Appeal Court had given victory to me, you are still wailing over the judgement of a competent court of jurisdiction, even when you are a product of the judiciary. I am surprised that instead of facing governance, you are still crying over a matter which has been sufficiently settled by law.

"If I may ask, what was your intention when you invaded the Rivers East Collation Centre and shut everybody out? What did you intend to achieve by ensuring that the entire election result of Ikwerre Local Government Area were not collated? When you ran away with the entire Emohua LGA result, what did you expect?

"Have you forgotten what led to the dismissal of six police officers whom you used to invade the collation centre? Has the case of the twenty three INEC officials who confessed to have received three hundred and sixty million naira from your aides to rig the re-run polls escaped your memory? Wike, as a lawyer, you ought to know that he who comes to equity, must come with clean hands.

"I did not contest any election with you; allow Sekibo to challenge me. You are my brother, please squarely face the mandate given to you by the court and stop wailing."

The Rivers East Senator added that in 2019, if his party gives him the opportunity to run election again, he would like to meet Governor Wike in the field.

He claims he is innocent and should never have been convicted in the first place. Convicted for the 1953 murders of two people at the age of 15, the man has maintained his innocence for more than half a century. You have to hear his story. Seventy nine year old Joseph Ligon, was fifteen years old when he was tried and convicted for the stabbing deaths of Charles Pitts and Jackson Hamm. Five other youths were also charged. The deaths were the result of a gang brawl. Developmentally disabled, he admitted he had been part of the melee, but did not stab the two youths who were killed, and he has maintained his innocence throughout his ordeal. All of the other defendants in the case have either passed away or have been released from prison already. In 2010, Ligon spoke...
