Stop Gallivanting And Globetrotting; Settle Down And Work
-RAISED Tells Governor Wike

A sociopolitical cum pro-sustainable development group based in Port Harcourt, Rivers Arise Initiative For Sustainable Engagement And Development(RAISED) is not pleased with the public conduct and retrogressive actions of the Governor of Rivers State, Barr Nyesom Wike. In a statement made available to newsmen by its spokesman Sam Wene Chinda, RAISED stated that Rivers State has never had it so bad in her 50 years of existence as a political component within the Nigerian State. RAISED is not happy that Rivers State that was known for growth and development is now experiencing downward slide in infrastructural and human capital developments in the last two and half years(30 months) of Governor Wike's occupation of the Rivers State Government House as the Governor and Chief Executive as well as the Chief Security Officer of the State.

"As a development-sensitive group, we strongly frown at the unrepentant stance of the Governor who has chosen vituperation and elevated narcissism as state policy thus jettisoning processes and procedures that promote and enhance good governance which lead to development. All we see is a highly self-conceited Governor who rather than construct new roads, sustain the pro-poor policies in health and education as well as food security policy in the agricultural sub-sector that the former Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi instituted, is embarking on a journey of self-imaging and frivolities. What use and what is the benefit derivable from the cost expended on the trips embarked by the Governor and his allies each time they go to Spain to give support to the Governor's preferred club, Real Madrid Football Club of Spain? This is even as salaries of players and staff of Rivers State-owned club, Rivers United are still owed.

"More annoying is the recent highly publicized award that the Governor nominated himself and was so awarded by an NGO that target big spenders. How do one explain a situation where the Governor is honoured by an NGO for providing affordable houses and developing habitable cities as well as basic amenities in Rivers State, Nigeria, according to Dr. Taj Hamad, Vice Chairman of Global Forum on Human Settlements & Sustainable Cities, the award-issuing NGO when in reality the Governor is yet to initiate any mass housing policy in Rivers State. To even worsen an already annoying situation was the decision of the Governor to go to Chatham House to deliver a lecture on an issue he lacks moral disposition to so do. In any case, the Governor got the right treatment meant for his kind by abandoned RSSDA-sponsored Rivers Students in Europe.

"As a responsible and responsive group, we are calling on Governor Wike to rethink governance and set up beneficial systems, processes and procedures that leave the government and the governed in a win-win situation. We want the best for Rivers State", the group stated.

Breaking! Wike on the run over leaked audio recordings

Wike on the run over leaked audio recordings The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, received with satisfaction the confirmation by Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State that the telephone discussion clip between him and Gov Nyesom Wike published by Saharareporters is authentic. Gov Fayose’s only grouse is that it was allegedly recorded and leaked by the Department of State Services [DSS], an accusation he is yet to provide the evidence. The APC finds Gov. Fayose’s position very significant in several aspects. The most important significance of that admission is that even among criminals, some level of honour especially in telling some truth and owning up to the obvious are necessary. When the audio recordings of Gov. Wike’s conversations with his people on rigging the last December 10 rerun elections surfaced in public space, the governor rather than own up and raise other issues about the clips chose to discredit them even if they were as clear to the...
