See How Ameachi Escaped Assassination

Yesterday, the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike visited Port Harcourt and on his way from the Port Harcourt International Airport to Eastern By-pass, Port Harcourt, his movement was disturbed by Governor Wike's outrider. As the Minister passed through Ken Saro-Wiwa Road and connected Elekahia Road and was about crossing Nkogwu Junction to Eastern By-pass, his car was hit by the side by Governor Wike's fast moving outrider's bike. The rider of the bike immediately pulled his riffle but on realizing that the man he had hit was the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, he retreated. The Minister left but unknown to him, some cars that were part of his convoy were blocked and occupants harassed thereafter by Governor Wike who personally went from one car to the other ordering occupants to step out and subjecting them to some level of humiliation. The Governor's target was men of the Federal SARS. Federal SARS officers in the convoy of the Minister were thoroughly manhandled and their rifles taken by Governor Wike's personal security. The Governor treats the Federal SARS with immeasurable contempt even though the security unit of the Nigerian Police is doing everything within their reach to rid Rivers State of crime and criminality.

The outrider who hit the Minister's car was on Governor Wike's convoy that was coming from the Garrison end of Trans-Amadi Road. What happened could be blamed on the Governor's outrider's carefreeness but Governor Wike took undue advantage of the situation to deal some deadly blows on Federal SARS. The Governor's Media Aide's Press Statement that was released almost immediately in which the integrity-bereft aide twisted the incident is nothing but sheer balderdash.##
