Tolofari condemns Wikes action over Road Flaggoff venue

A chieftain  of the All Progressives Congress Mr George Tolofari, has condemned the Rivers Government for failing to partner with the Federal Government in initiating developmental projects in the state.

The former commissioner for transportation alleged the refusal of the state government to use Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Finima, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers,  for the flag off of the  Bonny-Bomu Road project on Thursday.

For Mr. George, he finds it “ unfortunate and unpatriotic’’ that such an epoch making event will be discredited by Wike and the PDP led government in the state.

According  to him “No development conscious state government will play politics with development of its citizens, especially when it has to do with construction of an important economic road.

“I expect the Rivers government to partner with the Federal Government in ensuring that every developmental project proposed for the state is carried out without hindrance.

“The politics of talking about seeking approval from the Ministry of Education to use the slated venue for the flag-off  is quite unfortunate and unpatriotic,” he said.

He further added that the construction of the said road will “open the gateway for economic growth and diversification of the economy of Bonny and its environs.

Noting that “with this laudable commitment President Muhammadu Buhari has made, there will be a drastic reduction in boat mishaps which have taken the lives of countless people, old and young.

Narrating further, he said “people have refused  to come  here  to engage in meaningful businesses for the benefit of those in the region and Nigeria at large, for the fear of losing their lives and properties to pirates or boat mishaps.”

He however confirmed to newsmen that there is no cause to be panicked stressing that the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), has later decided to use Shell Gate in Bonny where the road would terminate as venue for the inauguration.##

Man lauds Prof Brambaifa led NDDC board, calls for total support

A top public analyst, Inengite Jackson has lauded the acting managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission led by Prof. Nelson Brambaifa for their performance in the past five months in office. Here is his full write ups "ARISE BAYELSANS, LET OUR ENEMIES BE SCATTERED. This is a clarion call on Ijaw people, especially, all Bayelsans to speak in one voice irrespective of political affiliation. We have a reputation for pulling down our own just like a mother hen that eats her own eggs. That is not something good about a people.  Since NDDC was created, this is the second time a Bayelsan would be occupying the exalted position of Managing Director, even though on Acting capacity. Sadly and typical of us, the attempt to pull down the Prof. Nelson Brambaifa led board is coming from no other quarters than from fellow Bayelsans. May I ask, are we cursed to fight ourselves all the time even when other ethnic groups stand to benefit from such fights? In just 5 months s...

the Senate finally put to rest the controversy trailing the conduct of the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) by the Universities, thereby declaring it illegal and unconstitutional, just as the upper chambers said that with the decision, the question of who was in charge of admission has been answered. Deliberating on the report by the Senator Barau Jibrin led Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, of a Bill for an Act to amend the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Act and other matters connected thereof, 2016( SB.245), the senators amended subsection (a) of section 5 to read as follows: ” 5(b) the Matriculations Examinations conducted by the Board shall be the sole examinations required for admission and entry into all Universities, ‘ Polytechnics (by whatever name called) and Colleges of Education (by whateVer name called), to the exclusion of any other institution or body.” With the passage of the bill, it would now require...
