Zero percent of Lagos Judges are Corrupt~ Prof Osinbajo

The Acting president of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said he he fought corruption to zero tolerance as an Attorney General. Prof. Osinbajo gave the narration recently in an attempt to boost the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

According to him, "When I was a lecturer in UNILAG, I visited a retired Judge who stayed in a rented BQ apartment of two  rooms. The first room which served as sitting room had no where you can sit on. It was filled with books. The second is bedroom for him and his wife. The children have grown and they don't stay with them. Here is a honest Judge, sincere old man but who had nothing to fall back on. It saddened me.

"Therefore, when I was appointed Attorney General of Lagos, we did a survey among Judicial stakeholders, we asked people to rate the judicial system into categories notoriously corrupt, highly corrupt, fairly corrupt, not corrupt....

"In the result, the respondents said 89% was notoriously corrupt!!!!!!

"We then decide to do three things. Review the wages of Judicial Officers, Improve their welfare and establish a credible recruitment process. We then increased Judges salaries from N67k to......which will ensure they pay their children school fees, paid for expenses comfortably. What we pay became the standard all over the country and even in the Appellate court's....We built house for them which they own forever. It is theirs during service and their property after service. It is theirs forever.

"For any corrupt allegation against any judge, we didn't use State Judiciary Commission to review in order to avoid interference, we sent to NJC straightaway and followed it up until we get results. Through this, we were able to sack many judges and magistrates....

"After some times, we reconducted same survey we did before and the result shows that 0% of Lagos Judges are corrupt.

"We will build a sound structure here too. That's the best way to fight corruption.##

Rivers Election: Princewill spits fire as INEC declares Wike winner

Rivers Election: Princewill spits fire as  INEC declares Wike winner A top former gubernatorial candidate and spokesperson to Tonye Cole Campaign Organization, Prince Tonye Princewill have  accused INEC of murdering sleep in the eyes of Rivers people by their purported declaration of Nyesome Ezenwo Wike as the winner of March 10, gubernatorial election in Rivers State. According to Princewill this morning “I have been the victim of written results on three occasions in my political life. First in 2007 when I ran for Governor, second in 2015, when I ran again and the third time is now, when I didn’t even run. Compared to the others, this blatant one has simply motivated me. None of us will rest on this one, not until justice is done. My message to you is “Fiat justitia ruat caelum” and I say it in Latin so the people who took their time to disenfranchise us can also take their time to remember it, especially those in INEC. You have just murdered sleep and asked us to go t...

APC postpones sale of nomination/expression forms indefinitely, sacks directors

Report indicates that the new leadership of the party has also sent all the six directors at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja on compulsory leave. It was gathered that the rescheduling of the sale of forms was informed by the inability of the contractor handling the printing of the forms to deliver on time. At the close of work yesterday, the APC Directorate of Organisation was yet to take delivery of the forms.
