The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has awarded scholarships to university level to all seven children of Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, the policeman who lost his life while courageously aborting an armed robbery attack on a bank in Owerri, Imo State, last year. The Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Nsima Ekere, announced this on Saturday after receiving the Public Service Award at the Sun Awards in Lagos. He also announced the donation of one million naira to the family of the deceased who was equally honoured at the award ceremony as the Nigerian Hero of the Year. Shocking! Ex-Army Chief Minimah Refunds N1.7b to EFCC Former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Kenneth Minimah (retd) has refunded about N1.7billion to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), The Nation learnt at the weekend . Besides, there were indications that another former Chief of Army Staff and some ex-military officers might be arraigned in court for alleged corrupt practices relating to “phoney” arms contracts. The legal unit of the EFCC is fine-tuning charges against the suspects. But a status report on Gen. Minimah, who was the Army Chief from January 2014 to July 2015, indicates that he has returned some cash to the EFCC. The refund followed extensive investigation by the anti-graft agency on the report and recommendations of the Presidential Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement (CADEP). Bodo-Bonny Road: Fashola orders Berger, contractors and others to begin work! The Minister  for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has ordered the contractors handling Bodo-Bonny road to begin work before the next two weeks. We will Create Tourism-Based Economy for Niger Delta, NDDC Chairman The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC , Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), has given assurances that the Commission will collaborate with the    National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, NANTA , to create a tourism-based economy in the Niger Delta region. Senator Ndoma-Egba made the commitment when members of the travel and tourism private sector body paid him a courtesy visit at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
