Meet the new boss of Alvan Ikoku College of Education.

A new boss has been appointed as chairman governing council of Alvan Ikoku College of Education.

Hon. Abinye Alex-Hart was appointed recently  to head the activities of the institution. Hon. Alex-Hart was born on June 21, 1956, in Bonny, to the family of Late Pa. A.B. Hart (the famous Headmaster, Bandmaster and Choirmaster) and Late Mrs. Violet E. Alex-Hart (the famous Educator and Opera singer). He is the last child in the family of six, whose miraculous birth was an answer by God to persistent prayers for male children.  He grew up under the tutelage of a grand disciplinarian when discipline was not a story-book idea, but the merciless grinding reality of everyday life.

EDUCATION:
Hon. Abinye Alex-Hart began his formal education at the famous Bonny Government School, left in 1972 and proceeded to Bonny National Grammar School, where he came out with flying colours in the West African Schools Certificate Examinations in 1977. He was at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Michigan, USA where he studied Architectural Design and Drafting, obtaining an Associate of Applied Science Degree with Honors in 1980.
Hon. Alex-Hart in 1981 proceeded to University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where he bagged a Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc) in Architecture in 1983. Not satisfied, he proceeded to University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA., where he got his Masters in Architecture in 1985. Hon. Abinye is also an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM).
With the acquisition of these degrees, he came home to do his National Youth Service Scheme from 1986 to 1987 at the then Nigerian Airports Authority, now Federal Airports Authority of Nigerian (FAAN). The Chairman, Governing Council, Alvan Ikoku College of Education is highly literate in computer systems with abundant management and administrative skills.

FAITH AND FAMILY:
It is worth mentioning that Hon. Abinye Alex-Hart is a born-again Christian to the core as he is a Life Member of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International and an Elder of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade Church. Notwithstanding, in his social, business and political life, he does not discriminate against anyone. A lover of children, he is happily married and blessed with children.
Lest we forget, his own biblical injunction is, "Love your God and your neighbor as you love yourself". This short Maxim is his own ethics, ethos, and tenets in life, hence he is unequivocally and passionately loved, admired and accommodated in any forum he finds himself.

WORK EXPERIENCES:
Hon. Abinye Alex-Hart was the Executive Chairman of the indigenous Bonny Local Government Council from March 1997 to July 1998, where he left his golden footprints  in the Public Administration of the Council. Before that exemplary leadership in governance, Hon. Abinye Alex-Hart had private work experiences in various companies and institutions both at home and abroad. To mention but a few, he was the Construction Manager of Kasa Corporation in Michigan, a Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota and a Draftsman at the South Central Michigan Planning Council all in USA. Back home, he did his youth service with the Nigerian Airports Authority (now FAAN) in 1986 as a Project Architect, and the Field Operation Manager of Hailco Real Estates in Borikiri, Port Harcourt. In 1998, he founded his private engineering and construction firm, Hartal (Nig) Ltd. where he still presides as the President.

A POLITICAL TECHNOCRAT:
Hon. Alex-Hart started his political career in his undergraduate years in USA when he became the Assistant Secretary General of the Nigerian Students in the State of Michigan.  To add the icing on his political cake, he was one-time the National Secretary of the  Liberal Democratic Party of Nigeria (LDPN). A one-time Local Government Council Chairman who in the history of Local Government Councils in Nigeria vacated the office with millions of Naira left in its treasury. He has to date held various political positions at Local government and State levels. He has also been a delegate to State and National conventions of various defunct and existing political parties. He was one-time appointed Member, representing the South-south Geo-political zone in the 2006 ANPP National Convention Committee that saw the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari as the then Presidential Flag bearer of the defunct ANPP.
