See what Sen. Magnus Abe did to Tai community
Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, has commended Tai youths for being law abiding and minimizing the spate of violence in Tai Local Government Area.
Speaking at Koroma-Tai, in continuation of his thank-you visit to Tai Local Government Area, Abe said although much noise was made by the opposition about the Tai results, the area constitutes one of the strongest areas of support for the APC, where the youths have resisted insinuations to cause violence.
Senator Abe said the youths have demonstrated respect for elders, parents and the wishes of the people by declining to engage in violence.
He enjoined them to continue to preserve the dignity of Tai LGA by refusing to be used to kill women, who are their mothers and sisters, and children in their farms, either in the disguise of cultism or outright political thuggery.
Speaking in pidgin English, Abe said; “I want to use this opportunity to thank the youths of Tai for the way wey dem don manage respect the elders, themselves and preserve dem mama. I wan specially thank Tai people for the way wey una don manage to preserve una dignity and respect una parents. If you go to some places now for Ogoni, women no fit go farm. When dem go farm, small, small boys go catch women wey beat dem mama mate, beat and harass them. That is not good.”
Senator Abe who is the Chairman, Senate committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), assured them that the support of Tai people would remain memorable in his mind and that he would not forget them in his developmental schemes, pointing out that what was necessary was for the people to remain peaceful in order to attract these developmental opportunities.
He appealed to the elders and opinion leaders of the youths to engage the youths constructively in ensuring the maintenance of law and order in such a way that other local government areas in Ogoniland would emulate them.
The occasion was attended by top APC chieftains including; Hon. Chidi Wiyorka, Hon. Barry Mpigi, Hon. Friday Nke-eh and Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke.
