Controversies as Buhari's minister Scraps Post-UTME

FG scraps post UTME, admission cut-off now 180
Mixed reations has began to trail as federal government of Nigeria through  Adamu Adamu, minister of education,  yesterday scraps an examination known to be Post-UTME that is usually written before gainaing admission into any higher institutions in the state.

Accordind to some persons who aired their views, expressed satisfaction while others doubted the possiblility of  making such mere statement a reality. for Jeremiah Ukachukwu, ''I never had the opportunity to examine reasons why Universities were conducting post UME in recent times. I think the practice results in more negatives that far out weighs its related positives. And for this, I will suggest that some form of monitoring should be put in place to check excesses of most schools
and their authorities during the admission process.''

Kome in his view ''My people, this is Nigeria. Making statements is not a problem its acting on those policies that matter. Schools will still to conduct post-UME exams this year''

The deceision which was taken at the 2016 policy meeting of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) became controversial as Adamu made the declaration. He said
“As far as I am concerned, the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing. The universities should not be holding another examination.
“If the universities have any complain against JAMB, let them bring it and then we address it.
“I believe there should be no ground to lower the quality; November. 30 remains the closing date for 2016 admission. No institution should exceed its quota in admission; we will start issuing penalties to defaulting institutions.”

He however added that the cut off marks for gaining admission into the university this year will be 180.
